Mike Burtnick
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, a move to bustling southern Ontario on football scholarship finished up with an engineering degree and a high-energy Husky mix. Life has pretty much gone to the dogs since then; ice-fishing and winter camping adventures were more fun with more dogs. It seemed inevitable my competitive nature and some mentoring from sprint and long distance legends took me down a path to racing. Fast-forward a decade and we’ve left our home, family and friends behind to pursue mid-distance racing and sled dog tourism from our new homestead in the Yukon!
Abby Burtnick
Originally from London, Ontario, Abby has lived all over Canada. Growing up with horses 3-day eventing, she’s no stranger to animal sports, however likely had no idea posing Michael the question “what’s one more dog?” would uproot their established life to build a race team halfway across the country! A supportive partner and elementary school teacher, Abby has been a pivotal part in establishing our tourism business and developing our educational programs.
